And now for some background information……
Diane was born in the Lady of the Lake Hospital, an omen of her future ability to translate the magical realms into art that speaks to everyone. Having spent most of her early life in Venezuela, she now lives and works in Tallahassee, Florida. Her backyard is a sanctuary for birds and critters, while her cats allow her to share the house.
Art has always been the underlying thread of Diane’s life, and at 18 she started selling paintings to tourists on the streets of Torremolinos, Spain. After returning to the states and obtaining a practical job as a dental technician, she realized she could make jewelry instead of teeth.
Her ability to see the special qualities of semi-precious stones and sometimes plain old rocks, and to enhance them with silver and gold, rapidly established her as a uniquely creative custom jeweler. She also used her considerable sculptural skills in the traditional lost wax process for both jewelry and sterling silver figures. Realizing that many people could not afford sterling silver sculptures, she began producing figures in lead-free pewter. Diane’s delight in the incredible detail available when working with pewter, led her to start Fool Moon Treasures, where she expanded her pewter line to include functional products like wall hooks and mirrors, as well as gift items and jewelry. She continues to create one-of-a-kind sculptures with pewter bodies and stained glass accents.
Her desire to give back to her community is one reason she maintains her own foundry in Tallahassee to allow her personal oversight on all production. She generously donates unique fundraising items to Goose Creek Animal rescue and other local charities. She has recently returned to her first love of drawing and painting, and now offers original works of art as well as her production pieces on Etsy.
